Jorge Opazo creates installations, paintings, collages and drawings. His point of departure is the history of comic books and the way it becomes part of the official western culture. A socially lesser form of art becomes a point of reference for the contemporary official culture.

Those tiny Novaro Mexican editions of the late 60s early 70s, the infamous Chilean editions of Hulk or Iron Man did not disappeared at all: like an archeologist of an old past alchemy Jorge takes aural and visual features of those graphic materials and re-build them in the codes both of the art history and an anonymous fetishist’s realm.
